BEN ENGELBRECHT

Ben began his accounting career with Cohen & Gmeiner Chartered Accountants (SA) in 1993. While with this firm he gained experience in auditing, accounting and systems development. Specialising in the development of quality management systems he was responsible for the development and implementation of the firm’s quality management system which was certified in 1997 by the SABS as being ISO9002 compliant. The firm thus becoming the first Public Accountants and Auditors practice to achieve this prestigious award.

He left Cohen & Gmeiner during 1997 to form Ben Engelbrecht and Associates, during which time he was admitted as a practicing member of the Institute of Commercial and Financial Accountants of Southern Africa. At the helm of Ben Engelbrecht and Associates, he is, among the normal duties associated with that of a CEO, responsible for the practical training of all trainees registered in terms of the practical training requirements of the Institute of Commercial and Financial Accountants of Southern Africa.

Included in the projects undertaken for Ben Engelbrecht and Associates during the period since 1997 are the following:

· Eseza Property Holdings Ltd. : ISO9002 quality management system design

· Nedcor Investment Bank Management Co.: Overhaul of Unit Trust financial accounting system

· Ovation Global Investment Services (Pty) Ltd : Accounting and financial control systems review and implementation

· Monkey Valley Resort Ltd : The restructuring of corporate structure

Ben holds a Bachelors Degree in Accounting Science (BCompt) from the University of South Africa - awarded in 1995.
